PRODUCT OVERVIEW

Foam proportioning.
Part of your system.

The Frozenfire Flanged Inline Inductor proportions foam concentrate into a pressurised water stream through a stainless-steel Venturi nozzle and diffuser. It is designed for fixed and semi-fixed fire protection systems supplied from an external concentrate drum, tote or tank.

A heavy-wall stainless-steel barrel and flanges are available in SS 304 or SS 316. The assembly has a high-gloss safety-yellow epoxy / PU finish and flanged ends for installation in fire-water headers, foam pump rooms and mobile skid platforms.

The pickup kit includes a stainless-steel isolation ball valve, quick-connect fitting, clear reinforced suction hose and a rigid stainless-steel pickup tube. A non-return check valve controls backflow toward the concentrate supply.

01

Heavy-wall stainless steel

SS 304 / SS 316 barrel and flanges form the main body of the inductor.

02

Venturi nozzle & diffuser

A stainless-steel convergent nozzle produces suction; the divergent section mixes concentrate with the water stream.

03

Preset proportioning

Choose 3% or 6% induction. Custom metering is available for the specified duty.

04

Complete pickup assembly

An SS isolation ball valve, quick-connect fitting, clear reinforced hose and angled-tip SS pickup tube connect to the external concentrate supply.

05

Non-return check valve

A built-in brass / stainless-steel check valve is provided to prevent water backflow into the concentrate drum or tank.

06

Flanged integration

ANSI B16.5 Class 150 / BS 4504 PN16 Table RF connection options support rigid inline installation.

WORKING PRINCIPLE

From flowing water
to proportioned solution.

Venturi induction uses the water supply to draw concentrate into the flowing stream.

01

Water accelerates

Water enters through the inlet flange and passes through the stainless-steel convergent nozzle, creating a low-pressure suction zone.

02

Concentrate enters

Atmospheric pressure drives concentrate through the stainless-steel pickup tube, reinforced hose and open isolation valve into the suction chamber.

03

Solution leaves the diffuser

Concentrate mixes with the water in the divergent diffuser. The foam solution flows to the connected foam monitor, pourer or generator.

OPERATION

Connect. Check.
Flush after use.

Product catalogue guidance to use with the selected equipment and the facility’s operating procedure.

  1. 01

    Check the flanged installation

Check that flange bolts are evenly tightened with the correct gaskets installed. Match the body’s flow-direction arrow to the pipeline flow.

  2. 02

    Prepare the concentrate supply

Insert the stainless-steel pickup tube to the bottom of the concentrate drum, tote or tank. Open the foam isolation ball valve before starting water flow.

  3. 03

    Start and verify induction

Open the main water isolation valve gradually to achieve the required duty within the 7–12 bar working range. Check the clear suction hose for continuous concentrate flow without trapped air.

  4. 04

    Transfer to clean water

After use, close the main water supply and move the pickup tube into a container of clean fresh water.

  5. 05

    Flush the pickup and inductor

Re-pressurise the water line and flush for 2–3 minutes, continuing until clear water is drawn through the pickup hose and discharged.

  6. 06

    Drain and secure

Close the foam ball valve, disconnect the pickup hose, drain residual water and secure the system.

INSPECTION & MAINTENANCE

Keep the passage clear.
Check the proportion.

After-use care, monthly inspection and annual maintenance from the product catalogue. Include these in the equipment’s maintenance programme.

01After every use
  • Flush the inductor and complete pickup assembly with clean water using the shutdown sequence above.
  • Remove residual concentrate to prevent deposits from obstructing the Venturi jet and check valve.
  • Drain the pickup hose and secure the system after flushing.
02Monthly inspection
  • Inspect the safety-yellow coating for chips or deep gouges; touch up with epoxy primer where necessary.
  • Check flange joints and gaskets for water or concentrate leakage.
  • Inspect the reinforced PVC pickup hose for kinks, cracks or hardened sections and replace deteriorated hose.
03Annual / preventive overhaul
  • Isolate the water supply, release line pressure and drain the pipeline before unbolting the centre body flange.
  • Inspect the stainless-steel Venturi orifice for scale, algae or chemical deposits. Clean with a soft nylon tube brush and warm water.
  • Inspect the suction check-valve spring, disc movement and seal seating. Replace worn elastomeric seals.
  • Reassemble the centre flange with a fresh EPDM / neoprene gasket and tighten the bolts evenly in a star pattern.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Identify the cause.
Restore the flow.

Checks from the Flanged Inline Inductor catalogue. Isolate, depressurise and drain the line before opening the inductor or servicing its check valve.

01

No concentrate induction

Possible cause
Low inlet pressure, a closed / partly closed foam ball valve, or a blocked Venturi or check valve.
Check & action
Check inlet pressure against the selected operating duty and ensure the foam isolation valve is fully open. Isolate, depressurise and drain before inspecting or cleaning blocked passages.
02

Water returns to the foam drum

Possible cause
The pickup check valve is held open by debris or dried concentrate.
Check & action
After isolating and depressurising the system, inspect the suction check valve, clean the seal face with warm water and retest.
03

Weak foam solution

Possible cause
Air enters through suction connections, or the pickup tube is above the concentrate level.
Check & action
Secure the hose clamps and fittings, and keep the pickup tube at the bottom of the concentrate container.
04

High pressure drop

Possible cause
Excessive downstream backpressure, for example from a long hose run or an unsuitable nozzle size.
Check & action
Match downstream foam equipment to the inductor’s rated flow and check the connected hose and nozzle arrangement.
