PRODUCT OVERVIEW

From the underground hydrant
to the hose line.

The Single Headed Stand Pipe creates a practical above-ground hose connection at a compatible underground hydrant. Its bottom inlet connects to the hydrant and its upper outlet accepts a compatible 63 mm firefighting hose coupling.

The aluminium-alloy body supports handling and transport, while metallic couplings and locking components secure the connections. The assembly is intended for repeated installation and removal when correctly inspected, operated and stored.

OPERATION

Install. Connect.
Deploy the hose line.

Catalogue guidance for trained personnel following the applicable hydrant-system procedures.

  1. 01

    Prepare the hydrant

Identify the compatible underground hydrant, clear access and inspect its connection for dirt, damage or obstruction.

  2. 02

    Install the stand pipe

Position vertically and secure the bottom inlet to the hydrant outlet according to the coupling design.

  3. 03

    Connect & check

Connect the required hose line or lines. Check that all couplings, seals, locks and hose connections are correctly secured.

  4. 04

    Establish the supply

Operate the underground hydrant valve gradually with its designated equipment, following the hydrant manufacturer’s instructions.

  5. 05

    Shut down safely

Gradually close the hydrant valve and relieve residual pressure. Disconnect only after confirming the equipment is depressurised.

  6. 06

    Drain & store

Drain, inspect and clean the equipment before returning it to its designated storage location.

Avoid sudden valve operation. Secure hose connections before establishing flow and confirm that residual pressure has been relieved before disconnection.

APPLICATIONS

INSPECTION & MAINTENANCE

Inspect. Clean.
Keep ready for use.

Inspection and testing intervals follow the facility’s fire-safety maintenance schedule. Installation and removal must be carried out by trained personnel with the system depressurised.

01Routine inspection
  • Inspect the aluminium body for cracks, dents or deformation.
  • Check couplings, threads, locks, sealing washers, gaskets, retaining pins, chains and caps; keep connection points clean.
02Cleaning after use
  • Flush dirt away with clean water and clean threads and sealing surfaces with a soft, non-abrasive brush.
  • Avoid aggressive chemicals that could damage aluminium or the protective finish. Dry thoroughly before storage.
03Functional testing & lubrication
  • Follow the facility’s inspection schedule and verify fit, secure locking and leak-free operation during an authorised water-flow test.
  • Pressure-test only at the approved pressure and using the manufacturer’s prescribed procedure.
  • Lubricate coupling or locking parts only where recommended, using a lubricant compatible with aluminium and seals.
04Storage & readiness
  • Store clean and dry in an accessible location, protected from impact, contamination and corrosive chemicals.
  • Fit caps where provided and keep equipment identifiable. Remove damaged equipment from service until inspected and approved for reuse.
